Socrates said “the unexamined life is not worth living.” While we can agree with the sentiments of the esteemed philosopher we don’t necessarily subscribe to his explanations of life. We need to emphasise that we are Christians not because we have checked our brains out at the door of faith but because we believe that nothing else makes more logical or satisfactory sense than our faith. There are mysteries of course, but there is nothing else we have found that comes as close as the bible to giving us the most complete and compelling answers to life as we find it and experience it. We are committed to the Bible, not because we have closed our minds off to anything else but because we have yet to find anything that is truly more satisfying both intellectually and experientially.
